It is very important to have an e-mail list because you will be able to get in touch with those who visited your website; you can do that when they check your website for the first time.

 

If you want to quickly build your email list, you can offer free gifts, for example audio and /or video files or CDs and / or DVDs. However, when it comes to the last option, you have to take into consideration additional charges, such as production and shipping.

But how can you concretely get the e-mail addresses of your website visitors? Initially, by starting to build the mailing list, which is by inserting an opt-in form on your website; on this opt-in form, the visitors insert the email address (and also their name) and they get in return the free gift.

 

Also, in order to finally add the visitors' e-mail addresses to your mailing list, you have to add an Auto-responder which will do that. This Auto-responder creates the opt-in form and then sends around automatic messages on e-mail to the visitors' right after they have inserted their e-mail addresses.

An important thing to keep in mind is the fact that visitors do not buy anything from a website on the first visit. That means you have to maintain their interest because studies have showed they start to buy actual product after more than seven visits.

 

After you have built your e-mail list, you will now be able to directly and repeatedly contact the visitors. There are many advantages to having a mailing list. That way, you can send them e-mail with products that may be useful to them and trying to convince them that they need that product, thus they should buy it. However, there is a fine line between such marketing e-mails and spamming. Initially, by starting to send spam around, you will not be able to build a relationship based on trust.
